Show Information

Based on the cult 80's film directed by John Waters, Hairspray is set in 1962 in Baltimore. Tracy Turnbald, the big haired, 'pleasantly plump' heroine, doesn't fit in with her teenage peers. Until she wins a spot on local dance programme, 'The Corny Collins Show' and suddenly has the chance to fulfil her lifelong ambition - to dance. Young Tracy is a massive hit on the show and is transformed from loner to teen sensation overnight.

But the story doesn't end there. Tracy must fight to win the love of heart throb Link Larkin as well as work her socks of to beat the reigning champion of 'The Corny Collins Show'. Can she manage it? Not without her hairspray! This bright and energetic show make it a must-see for anyone who fancies a good old-fashioned fun night out at the theatre. Hairspray opens on October 11th at the Shaftesbury Theatre
